WE...Made One Shadow.....
I was on a plane last week, and happened to look out the window as we took off in time to catch the shadow of the plane on the ground. Seeing that shadow gave me a surprising reaction, as I realized that single shadow contained so many individual lives. I thought, "Well there I am, inside that aircraft with all the other people intending to get somewhere just like me." We all rely on the pilot for their expertise in flying the plane safely, literally putting our lives on the line by joining the crowd onboard.
I became one of the group, feeling a loss of my individual identity but also feeling a sense of oneness with everyone in that flying capsule. And it made me think about.......
The power of the collective.
Mastermind groups are an example of this and are powerful because the collective intelligence and energy is more effective when directed toward plans and goals than one would be working alone. This isn't new knowledge, but you know what they say about receiving information when one is open and ready.
What is it about our culture today that can make us feel like we need to always be an expert? It can be intimidating, almost like an incentive to draw away in coping mode, ignoring the growing anxiety we also deny. And yet, humans are wired to bond and help one another. Some of the most successful people in history knew this. I'm finding validation of this message in Napoleon Hill's Positive Influence, most notably as it illuminates the power of the positive influence that his wives (yes, plural) all had on his success, each one lending her unique gifts and talents to his endeavors. Surrounding ourselves with people who share our positive attitude and are openly willing to provide knowledge and guidance to uplift our journey feels like a win/win way to be.
Find Your People!
As I share my thoughts, what questions come up for you?
I find myself thinking about the people in my circle, and how I can reach out and share my hopes and desires, and maybe my expertise to create a mutual helping bond. If we all collectively rise up and feel empowered, that is the energy that we give out. I see no downside to that! And I see the correlation in the coaching relationships I am honored to have, listening, supporting, and encouraging our desires to grow and move forward.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this...feel free to reply and share.
And if you or someone you know are contemplating coaching, I invite you to a no-obligation conversation call with me. It all starts with an idea!
