Using Minimal Effort

USING MINIMAL EFFORT

It’s been so hot here lately that the little fountain in my front garden has bird visitors coming & going all day. Grateful for the water, they joyfully share the shower with each other. The finch, the woodpecker and the hummingbird, all fluttering around in there, using minimal effort to cool down. And they seem to be having a good time, like they know it’s the wisest thing to be doing on a hot day.

 WHAT’S MY TAKE-AWAY HERE?

Birds are smarter than people?  (well, maybe…) Nature seems to have things figured out pretty well, if we don’t get in the way.

As I sit and watch the birds splash and play, I’ve been pondering a decision I need to make. An opportunity has been offered to me and it requires a yes or no answer. Just ‘yes’ or ‘no’. And ‘thank you’. Simple, right?  Not so much. I’m getting in my own way all over the place, feeling more hot and sweaty as I try too hard to figure it out.

Can you relate? What are you waking up at 2 a.m. thinking about?

So I went for a walk, and decided to just let the thoughts dance around in my head and I let go of being my own Director. Just walking and breathing my way, some clarity popped into my head. I remembered a story one of my teachers told about a decision she made and how she changed her mind after letting her brain mull it over all night long. The clarity came to her after letting it rest.
And there was my answer, clear as could be. And once I saw it, I FELT it…..like, "Yep, I know why this is my answer." Well, THAT WAS EASY!!

What is my lesson here? I slowed down, got quiet, and allowed space for my own Inner Knowing to do the work. When we learn to work with our own inner nature and with the laws operating around us, we are working with the Natural Order of Things. The principle of
MINIMAL EFFORT.

Why make things harder for ourselves? Life for us humans isn’t just about splashing about in a fountain all day, but we don’t have to make it like a freeway grid-lock either. (that analogy was easy for me….I live in L.A.)  But we all have decisions to make all the time.

I invite you to ask yourself:

1.What is something you are working on right now? Are you making the decision harder for yourself?

2.What would happen if you let go a little bit and just let it be? Gave the decision a little space?

3.What’s your best method for doing this? Is it a quiet walk outside? Is meditation your secret?

3. I wonder if clarity would “pop in” for you like it did for me? Hit reply and share with me if you’re so inclined.  I’d love to hear from you.

Have a great week! I’ll send my next thought out in 2 weeks…I hope you’ll be there with me!

X Lorilyn

P.S.  I wrote the email with the answer to my Big Decision, and it was easy. And that felt nice, because it’s still really hot and I don’t feel like working that hard!
